Her Musical Journey
Born and raised in Detroit, the heartbeat of soul and Motown, Cynthia’s musical journey began in the church, where she first discovered the power of her voice. By eighteen, she had already captivated an audience of 10,000 at the Danny Thomas St. Jude Charities Fundraiser—a performance that set the stage for an extraordinary career.
As a member of the celebrated vocal group Brandye, Cynthia toured the U.S. alongside the legendary Peabo Bryson, sharing her velvet-smooth voice with audiences nationwide. Her sought-after talent led to collaborations on over 20 gold and platinum albums with industry icons like Bob Seger, George Clinton, The Dramatics, Johnnie Taylor, Millie Jackson, and Marilyn McCoo & Billy Davis. Cynthia also worked with renowned producers Don Davis and Jerry Wexler, and continued to refine her artistry, leaving an indelible mark on her music.
Beyond albums, Cynthia’s voice has graced over 2,000 studio recordings, including beloved radio and television jingles. With a vocal range that effortlessly navigates Jazz, Blues, R&B, Pop, and Gospel, she has dazzled audiences at prestigious venues like The Nugget in Sparks, Nevada, and was the only artist to sell out the Artiz Jazz Club in Folsom, CA—joining a roster that included Joyce Cooling and Fattburger.
Her stage presence is as magnetic as her voice, lighting up renowned jazz festivals such as the Meadowview Jazz Festival, the Oak Park Summer Concert Series, and the world-famous Sacramento Jazz Jubilee. Now based in Elk Grove, California, Cynthia continues to deliver unforgettable performances at venues like the Crocker Art Museum, California State Fair, JB’s Lounge, Auburn State Theater, and Mango’s Jazz Club—often playing to sold-out crowds.
With a deep belief that music is felt in the heart and soul, Cynthia’s performances are nothing short of inspirational. This passion earned her the 2005 Sounds of Soul’s Best Female Jazz Performer award, a testament to her artistry and timeless talent.
A true class act, Cynthia’s voice is more than just music—it’s an experience, a journey, and a gift to all who listen.
